Original schnapps and liqueurs from the Steinwald
Distilling native fruit varieties has always been our passion and remains so to this day. The story begins just a few years after the founding of the grain distillery in the year 1818, when Johann Baptist Schraml began processing apples and pears from the meadows of his own farm to make fruit brandy. More varieties quickly followed, and the first recipes for herb and berry liqueurs were created before the end of the 19th century.
Today they are called Steinwald, our spirits and liqueurs originating from and in harmony with the Steinwald, the rough mountain landscape where we live. Thanks to artisanal production, they all tend to be rugged fellows and rustic types. As original as the region. They are what we have long known and appreciated here in the Steinwald: down to earth, uncomplicated and genuine in appearance and taste.
Thanks to the broad and varied selection, everyone is sure to find something they enjoy. Meant for indulgence and enjoyment, Steinwald brings people together with its uncomplicated and pleasurable nature and the traditional, convivial way of life that is typical for its Bavarian homeland.
From classic fruit brandies to traditional schnapps made of Williams pear, cherry, forest raspberry or hazelnut, to liqueur creations passed down through the generations made of wild fruits or caraway, to masterfully composed spiced liqueurs such as “Hüttenfeuer” or “Wurzelstolperer”, the name Steinwald stands for down-to-earth fun with a highly aromatic note.
